How we attended EUPVSEC?
September 24, 2026 RotterdamThe LUMINOSITY project was proud to participate in EU PVSEC 2026 in Rotterdam, joining researchers, industry representatives, policymakers, and fellow European projects to discuss the future of photovoltaic technologies and the path towards their large-scale deployment.
A key message emerged throughout the event: Europe’s strength lies in collaboration. As perovskite photovoltaics move closer to commercialization, stakeholders emphasized that accelerating innovation requires projects, industry, and research organizations to work together, share knowledge, and align efforts rather than compete against one another.
As part of the Perovskite Network, LUMINOSITY contributed to a series of activities designed to strengthen cooperation across the European perovskite ecosystem. The project was represented at the Perovskite Network Booth (A8), which served as a hub for networking, exchanging ideas, and exploring future collaboration opportunities. Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about LUMINOSITY’s work on developing sustainable and scalable perovskite photovoltaic technologies and to engage directly with project representatives.
LUMINOSITY also made several contributions to the conference programme. During the Perovskite Network parallel event, “Opportunities for Sustainable Perovskite PV Commercialisation”, Dr İlker Doğan, LUMINOSITY Coordinator from TNO, presented the project’s activities in digitalisation and manufacturing optimisation, highlighting how these approaches can support the industrialization of perovskite photovoltaics. A highlight of the event was the strong interest shown by the Dutch SolarNL initiative. Discussions with Dr Doğan explored opportunities for closer cooperation between European and national initiatives, with the common goal of strengthening Europe’s leadership in next-generation photovoltaic technologies.
Later in the conference, Dr Doğan delivered an oral presentation entitled “R2R Scalable Perovskite Solar Cells with High Efficiency and Long-Term Stability via Scalable Encapsulation Methods”. The presentation showcased the latest progress achieved within LUMINOSITY towards scalable manufacturing processes and durable perovskite solar cells, bringing the technology one step closer to industrial deployment.
The project’s scientific contributions were further complemented by a poster presentation from TU Delft, which presented research on soiling losses in ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE)-based front sheets for flexible thin-film photovoltaic applications. The work contributes to a better understanding of long-term performance factors affecting flexible photovoltaic technologies and supports the development of more reliable solar solutions.
The discussions, presentations, and networking activities throughout EU PVSEC 2026 reinforced a shared vision across the European PV community: the challenge is not which project advances first, but how quickly innovative technologies can be transferred from the laboratory to the marketplace. Achieving this goal will require continued cooperation across projects, organizations, and countries.
LUMINOSITY would like to thank everyone who visited the Perovskite Network booth, attended the presentations, and contributed to the inspiring discussions. We look forward to building on the connections established in Rotterdam and continuing our work towards a sustainable and competitive future for perovskite photovoltaics in Europe.
