LUMINOSITY partners meet in Berlin
December 3, 2025 Belrin, GermanyThe LUMINOSITY partners gathered in Berlin last week for their 18th-month project meeting. Despite the chilly November weather, the warm interactions among partners created an inspiring and productive atmosphere.
The meeting was opened by the Project Coordinator, followed by a welcome from the host organization, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin(HZB), a world-class research centre for energy materials that contributes to knowledge-based solutions for major societal challenges.
The two-day meeting focused on reviewing the project’s progress, highlighting recent scientific achievements, and discussing upcoming challenges. On Day 1, partners provided an overview of progress across the individual work packages. Overall, the work is progressing well and remains in line with the preliminary plan. Several achievements were highlighted, including a major breakthrough: the development and successful implementation of R2R anodic arc evaporation by FEP for the deposition of functional layers such as SnOx, SiOx, and ZnO. This technique enables high-rate, low-damage deposition of buffer and barrier layers, which are critical for device stability and performance. In terms of dissemination activities, partners were recognized for their active participation in various events, including 10 scientific events with multiple posters and talks delivered, as well as 3 publications. For detailed results, see the Results section. Day 2 featured extended discussions on the upcoming project amendment and the internal redistribution of work to ensure optimal impact.
The meeting also included a lab tour, giving partners the opportunity to visit Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin’s laboratories and observe the project’s experimental setups under real-world conditions.
Following the completion of the first reporting period, the meeting helped prepare the consortium for the upcoming review meeting with the Project Officer next month.
The collaborative spirit and dedication of all partners continue to drive the LUMINOSITY project forward. The consortium extends special thanks to the HZB team for their excellent organization and seamless hosting of the meeting.
